Why Donate to Albemarle Rowing

Albemarle Rowing is a varsity club sport that receives no funding from the county and is staffed with volunteer coaches. We collect about $35,000 each year in student dues to pay for costs such as regatta registration fees, spring season travel, gas, and insurance. In addition, we need to raise about $25,000 per year to pay for equipment purchases, equipment repairs, and equipment maintenance. In the 2023-2024 fiscal year Albemarle Rowing needs to:

  • Purchase a new women's double to replace a 20 year old double - $18,000
  • Maintain and upkeep trailer - $3,000
  • Basic equipment maintenance - $1,500
  • Save for launch electric motors - $24,000
  • Cover increased insurance costs 
  • Purchase 2 - 4 sets of oars - $750 for each pair
