Cathy Coffman

Coach  Coffman started the program in 2012 and has been the head coach since the inception of the team. She has been rowing for over 40 years and her coaching experience spans 35 years with juniors, as well as masters and college rowers.  Coffman rowed at Washington-Lee High School, The University of Virginia, Potomac Boat Club, Occoquan Boat Club, and Rivanna Rowing Club. She was the runner up at the 2014 CRASH-B’s in the Senior Veteran Lightweight event.  As a rower, she has medaled at Stotesbury, Dad Vails, Club and Master's Nationals, as well as the Head of the Charles winning First place in the Grand Master’s Double in 2017.  As a coach, her crews have won New England and Scholastic Nationals, Stotesbury Cup, and many of her rowers have gone on to be on the junior national team and/or row in college.   She has coached at several different high schools (Pomfret, Washington-Lee, Thomas Jefferson, Western Albemarle, and Albemarle), clubs (Occoquan Boat Club and Rivanna Rowing Club), and for UVA.  From 1991 – 1996, she was a member of the Women’s Junior National Selection Committee.  She teaches AP Calculus at Albemarle High School and is the Girls’ Cross-Country Coach.
