Thank You to Our 2025 Fundraisers!
We are writing to let you know about our 2024-2025 Fundraising Campaign: PAY IT FOARWARD!
Our small but mighty club, now going into its 13th year, is able to claim medals at major regattas, cultivate collegiate level athletes, give back to our community and encourage all of our rowers to be the best versions of themselves on and off the water because of the generosity of those that came before us. All participating rowers are encouraged to do their part to ensure the future of our club and to leave the organization better than they found it. Let’s pull together to continue to PAY IT FOARWARD!
The expectation for those who join the spring team is to raise a minimum of $1,000 each so we can have the proper equipment needed to stay in shape, practice, and compete. It’s said that championships are won in the offseason, so we begin our fundraising efforts in the fall so we can focus on practices and regattas in the spring season.
Albemarle Rowing is a varsity club sport that receives no funding from the school or county and is only possible because of our volunteer coaches, who generously give their valuable time and talents to developing, teaching, and coaching a team of hardworking, determined young athletes. We collect dues to pay for operational costs such as regatta registration fees and transportation costs, equipment repair and maintenance, rack fees, gas, and insurance.
In addition, we fundraise to replace aging equipment and continue our efforts to purchase electric motors for our two launches (to be mandated by the County to protect the quality of the water in the Rivanna Reservoir, the County’s drinking water supply). We made great progress in 2023-2024 and are already over halfway to our goal of funding two electric motors - we need to keep up the momentum!
In the 2024-2025 fiscal year Albemarle Rowing is working to fund the following:
We will fundraise in several different ways:
1. Restaurant Fundraisers
We have the opportunity to earn $600-$1200 per game for our team by volunteering to clean up after UVA home football games at Scott Stadium. Click on this signup genius link to learn more and to sign up for one or more slots! We are hoping more opportunities will become available at the spring games.
3. 50/50 Raffle
Sell raffle tickets to friends, family, schoolmates, colleagues, etc. The winner will get half of the prize money, and Crew Boosters will get the other half! More details to follow.
4. Holiday Party/Silent Auction/Rowing Celebration in December
Contribute or solicit items, experiences, services or gift cards from local businesses for our silent auction at our annual holiday party.
5. Erg-a-thon in February
Collect donations from family, friends, local businesses, and other supporters. This is by far our biggest, and historically, our best fundraiser.
6. Kroger Rewards
Please link your Kroger digital account to our team. It’s easy! DO IT NOW! Click HERE to sign up! Use Code: LN615
7. Donate a Shift, Tips, or Gift - Follow Liv’s lead and donate your tips or shift wages to the team. Have a birthday or other holiday coming up, but don’t know what to ask for? Ask your friends and family to make a gift to your beloved rowing team in your name! Venmo: @AHScrewboosters
8. Rowers’ Choice - Want to help manage a bake sale or run a pickleball tournament, or have any special gifts or talents that might lend themselves to our fundraising efforts? We welcome any and all rower ideas to help keep the FUN in FUNdraising!
We hope to see you all at our informal meet and greet at Chisholm Vineyard (https://www.chisholmvineyards.com/) on Friday, Sept 13 at 6:00PM!
Thank you for supporting our team! Please let me know if you have any questions, have other fundraising ideas, or want to help with fundraising efforts.
All rowers should understand that fundraising does not guarantee a spot on the Spring rowing team as this decision is based on tryouts and performance.

In the 2024-2025 fiscal year Albemarle Rowing is working to fund the following:
- Replace Double - $12,000
- Replace Quad - $18,000
- Replace 2-4 sets of oars on an annual basis over the next 3 years = $3-6,000/year
- Continue to save for Electric Motors for Launches - $10,000
We will fundraise in several different ways:
1. Restaurant Fundraisers
- 9/27, 4-10pm - Fro-Yo Friday @ Spoons in Hollymead Town Center
- Dining Night Out at Timberwood Grill in the spring - stay tuned for details. Last year, they let us use their banquet room free of charge and donated 10% of ALL sales for the evening to our cause, so this proved to be both a good fundraiser and an opportunity for families to get to know one another away from the boathouse and regattas
